Drama Review: Chuno/Slave Hunters (complete)

^ thats my ipod wallpaper ;)

[Read my previous review on Chuno]

SPOILER ALERT!

I just finished watching the last episode of Chuno. I have to say, the last few episodes were so sad. I don't disagree with any of the things I said in my previous review on this drama. There was still a lot of action and a lot of adventure in the episodes following my previous review. The thing I liked a lot about this drama was the really clever strategies shown, such as closing your mouth while running, feeling the vibration of the ground to track people, and more. It taught you a lot of how people used to track down slaves or criminals back in the days when nobles and slaves actually existed. I also enjoyed the side stories.

The ending of the drama felt a little incomplete. They ended it with (I'm guessing) Tae Ha narrating what happens the following years. I would've liked them to maybe show a few years after and see how each character was doing and how the country had changed or developed after all that they had done. The ending was good, and left you wondering a little, but it still felt a little weird to just end it like that. Especially with two people who weren't really the stars of the drama. I thought the part when Dae Gil said "My..love" and ran to go fight the guards would've been a nice place to end it. It would've left people hanging and maybe they could come out with a special or a movie or even a second season.

My favourite character throughout the whole drama would have to be Dae Gil. His laugh is kind of weird, but other than that he was just someone you have to love. He is quite an emotional person and he's someone who doesn't like to express them, therefore he puts on a brave front and lets his emotions built up inside of him. I guess it makes him go a little crazy, thus the awkward laughing at random parts. The acting by Jang Hyuk was incredible. Honestly, I couldn't take my eyes off him. He's just so attractive in a way. He is a little arrogant when he is fighting, like his little taunt in episode 23 where he takes his knife and slides it over his neck, then winks with a little mouth clack, indicating that he's going to kill the person. [Sorry, really hard to describe what he did] He's a really slick person and very smart for someone who didn't know how to defend himself before. Trained in a mere 5-6 years, he can already fight against Song Tae Ha, a military officer with years of training. I was so sadden when he died at the end, although I suspected it. His love for Un-Nyun was so much that he was willing to die for her so she could have a happy life.

Which leads to the disappointment with who Un-Nyun ended up with. Of course, she chooses to stay with Song Tae Ha, her husband. Honestly, I thought Dae Gil's feelings for her were stronger than Tae Ha's and I wish she could have seen that. Of course, Tae Ha loved Un-Nyun too, and she would just look like a whore if she left Tae Ha and went back to Dae Gil, but I don't know, I felt so bad for Dae Gil, because in the end she left him twice. I'm not hating on Un-Nyun though, because obviously she was caught in the middle, but I was anticipating for Dae Gil and Un-Nyun to meet each other, then fall in love again, but that never happened.

But overall, I think this drama had a lot of morals in it. It shows that it's not impossible to change the world positively; you just need to take a stand and go step by step. It didn't take them two days to change the world, it took them years to change the world. Well, of course you shouldn't change the world by blowing up the parliament or white house, but there are ways to change the world and you just need to find it. Many people changed the world, such as Martin Luther King. He changed the world by a mere speech.

Yes, I was a little disappointed of how it ended, but I still loved this drama and I still recommend you watch it. Hey, you never know, you might like the ending.

Drama Review: Down with Love

Xiang Yu Ping, an expert divorce and inheritance lawyer, is seen by others as cold, selfish, and ruthless. After Yu-ping’s older brother dies in a car accident he has little choice in taking in his brother's two orphaned children, Fei and Ting. Every nanny he hires to care for them is either scared off by the mischievous children or ends up falling in love with him. Fed up, Yu Ping asks his secretary, Yang Duo, to find a nanny that meets his requirements. Having lost all their wealth when their mother passed away and being abandoned by their father after racking up heavy debts; Yang Duo can not ignore the fact that she needs the money and recommends her younger sister, Yang Guo, for the job; assuring Yu Ping that her tomboyish sister will not fall in love with him by lying that she does not like men at all.

Okie dokie. So this is literally my favourite drama of all time as of now. It's cute, it's funny, it's sad, it just has it all. Of course, this review is only for the seven episodes that were aired already. I'm very anxious to see the next episode, which airs on Sunday and will probably be done being subbed around Tuesday.

First of all, I would like to point out how extremely cute Jerry Yan portrays Yu Ping in this drama. It makes me want to die when I see him smiling and doing such nice things for Yang Guo. A little advice if you want a boyfriend, you might not want to watch this drama, because your standards will rise so high that it will become impossible to look at a guy the same way. Although Yu Ping was described as "arrogant" and "cold-hearted", it does not really show at all throughout this drama.
I have to admit, I usually dislike Ella, but for some odd reason she fits this role very well. Yang Guo is a naive yet caring and determined tomboy. I guess you can point out that Yang Guo isn't the prettiest out of the bunch either. Ella is usually known for playing those tomboy roles, such as in Hana Kimi. Yang Guo is humorous throughout the drama and shows that just cause she's ordinary, doesn't mean she can't get the guys. ;)
The thing I disliked about the drama was Chen Zi Han who played Hui Fan. Her voice was dubbed and it just irritated me because she sounded so annoying. It just didn't feel natural when watching it. Other than that, each actor portrayed their roles very well. You'll fall in love with the characters.

The drama moves very quickly; no lagging, no repetition. I guess you could say the fact that a lot of things stand in the way of Yang Guo and Yu Ping can piss you off sometimes. Aside from that, each episode satisfies you and makes you anxious for the next.
The plot is sort of predictable, I'll have to admit, but I'd have to say most dramas are predictable. The theme of this drama isn't very unique and very easy to point out, but it really does send you a message. It shows how love isn't fully about looks or money, it shows how love shouldn't be about looks or money. A high class and handsome guy like Yu Ping doesn't need a wife/girlfriend based on class or beauty.
I don't want to ruin much, so I shall say no more.

OSTs OSTs OSTs. One word. Amazingggggg. The first time I heard the opening song, I fell in love right away. I swear you should check it out. The osts for this drama are catchy and you'll repeat them over and over again on your Ipod/Mp3. Here are the links to the opening and closing song of the drama:
